“Mangal bhavan Amangal hari , Dravahu sudasharath ajir bihari…”
“O Prabhu Ram you are abode of everything good and auspicious for all causes and destroyer of all that is bad ,Take compassion on me ,O Dasharatha’s beloved (Shri Ram) who plays in the courtyard (As a child in Dasharatha’s courtyard)”
This chaupai from Ramcharitmanas has been said umpteenth number of times since it’s creation in 15th century by Tulasidas.
This is mentioned in Bal kand of Ramcharitmanas after doha number 111 & chaupai no. 4.
Context: These lines were said by the Lord Shiva to Mata Parvati, when she asked him to tell the story of Ramayan to her. Mata Parvati took the reincarnation after leaving the form of Mata Sati immolating herself in yajna fire. After that she took birth as Himalaya daughter as Parvati and was reunited with Lord Shiva. She asked him the story of Lord Rama to understand the glory of God’s saguna form. In her previous birth she took the test of Lord Rama, impersonating herself as Mata Sita. But Lord Rama recognized her and bowed down to her and asked about Lord Shiva. She understood instantly that Lord Ram was no ordinary prince walking in forest. In her birth as Parvati she wanted to hear the full glory of Lord Rama from Lord Shiva Himself. Lord Shiva was very pleased with her question and after briefly immersing himself in the dhyana of Shri Rama and then uttered following lines(in Ramcharitmanas by written by Tulasidas).

Meaning: Without knowing even the false appears truth like a rope can be mistaken as snake in ignorance. And if you know the ONE (Lord Shri Ram) the entire world will vanish like a dream vanishes when you wake up.
I worship the child form of Lord Shri Ram , whose name chanting itself can give you all siddhis. Lord Shri Ram is the reservoir of all that is good and destroyer of all bad things for his devotees, O the Dasharatha’s beloved , have mercy on me and stay in my heart forever.
These lines have caught my fascination from very early childhood as it was very commonly heard wherever Ramcharitmanas path was organized. This is used as samput in many Ramcharitmanas paths over the centuries now.

Meaning of this verse : “”O Prabhu Ram you are abode of everything good and auspicious for all causes and destroyer of all that is bad ,Take compassion on me ,O Dasharatha’s beloved (Shri Ram) who plays in the courtyard (As a child in Dasharatha’s courtyard)” “
O Prabhu Ram, Your name will always reverberate in my heart. O Ram you are root cause of all good things and destroyer of all bad things, you are my sole support for everything on this world and off this world. I am not that good to distinguish between good and evil please help me to get what my soul is originally born for. Shri Ram just be my guide to get through this ocean of doubt and uncertainties, to my ultimate destination which is salvation. Shri Ram please be my guide as my parents had been to me. You have seen us through our parents at that when I was small, just be help me at this level of life too where I seek you the most in my most turbulent times.”
Using a samput in Ramcharitmanas path gives you special blessings. Samput is a repetitive verse which is recited at the end of every part during the path of Ramcharitmanas. It is said that every samput gives special blessings to the person who is reciting Ramcharitmanas. This particular verse “Mangal bhavan Amangal hari….. Removes all the obstacles in your life and gives you success in your desired field of operation.

Ramayan Events covered in this bhajan given below:
- This second part of the bhajan starts from the time when people on earth were suffering from the atrocities and papakarma (henious sins) they called in for God’s help. Lord Narayan took birth in Dasharatha’s home.
- Sage Vishwamitra came and asked for Ram & Lakshman to save Rishis from demons. King Dasharath sent them with Vishwamitra with heavy heart.
- Shri Ramji killed deamon Tadaka in forest and turned Ahilya to her human from stone. He protected Rishis thus helped them to do their penance and made them happy.
- From forest Vishwamitrji brought Ram & Lakshman to Janakpuri. Citizens of Janakpuri were happy to see him & Lakshman. Sitaji also saw Ram and started liking him.
- There was a Svyamvar competition for Sitaji’s marriage. Ramji broke the super heavy Shiva bow and thus fulfilled the condition of Svayamvar and overshadowing the reputation of other kings there. Sitaji got hitched to Ramji.
- Parashuramji came there swathing in anger as the Shiva was his Guru and his bow was broken. All other kings were happy that Parashuram will fight with Ram now. Janakji paid his obeisance to Lord Parashuram.
- Lakshmanji told the sage are not proud and haughty but Ramji spoke to him in polite voice. He told him not to pay attention to Lakshman and asked him to punish him rather for his mistake as he broke the bow.
- Parashuram told him to put string on his bow and show his prowess to him. Shri Ram ji immediately put the string on bow by just touching. Parashuram was convinced that he was the God himself as it was divine bow and was predicted that God will reveal himself to Parshuram like that.
- Urmila got married to Lakshan. Shrutikirti to Shatrughan(also called Ripusoodan) and Mandavi to Bharat.Ramji came to Awadhpuri and they spent twelve years peacefully then. Then King Dasharath took permission from Guru Vashisth to coronate Shri Ram as King of Ayodhya.
- However Manthara who was personal maid of Kaikeyi instigated her to coronate her son Bharat rather than Ram.
- Kaikeyi had a promise from King Dasharath that she would ask for two boons. She saved it for the day.She asked the throne to be given to Bharat and to send Ram in forest for 14 years.
